Season of the Spirit - Poems of Kennedy
A collection of thoughts, emotions and experiences.
Rejoice not over me, O my enemy; when I fall, I shall rise... - Micah
Treat yourself to a soft Irish kiss with this autumnal tale of love, sex, politics, betrayal, and empowerment.
This collection of Irish poetry begins with a meeting between Mr King Chairman and his lover in the autumn. Meanwhile, a hippopotamus turns up at their local coffeehouse, along with a travelling warbler, and a werewolf. After the lovers part ways, Mr King Chairman is defeated by his enemy but he promises her that when he falls he will rise. When power corrupts the people, Mr King Chairman cleanses the people with poetry.

Author's Personal Note:
Of all my films, books, and drawings, the book Season of the Spirit and the film NAKED are the works of which I am the most proud. This is because they turned out even better than I imagined them to be.
Season of the Spirit is the most personal of all my works. From the opening poem Season of the Spirit to the final poem Full Moon, the book chronicles my journey through time from the autumn of 2019 to the autumn of 2020. There's a love story, poems about sensuality and sexuality, and a few poems about animals. The book ends with a poem about a conflict involving the Chairman referred to in the satirical poem Mr King Chairman and his colleagues. In the final months of his chairmanship, Mr King Chairman discovers an incident in which a younger person is bullied by two older more powerful persons. Instead of turning a blind eye like his colleagues, he reports the incident and he invokes the ancient Hebrew prophet Micah, “...Rejoice not over me, O my enemy; when I fall, I shall rise...”

“A lovely collection of diverse poems - some will have you chuckle, others will touch your heart. I particularly enjoyed the ones with the animal protagonists.”

“Kennedy's poems pull on the reader's heart strings. He explores both the joy and suffering in human existence. He has an ability to capture a thought or feeling with jewel-like perfection.”
